MMMMmmmm, another delicious helping of First Friday....served up hot and loud, just the way you like it. Your parents wouldn't approve...nuf said. On April 3rd The Skyliters return to their rightful place to dispel the gloom of Winter with loud guitars and stuff that makes noises like drums and saxophones (whatever they are) . We throw the people shouting into microphones in for nothing. In fact.....it's all free....that's just how we roll. Come, enjoy.....kiss and make up with Spring although it leaves us in the lurch every year like clockwork..... Starting up around 7:30pm.
On Saturday, April 4, the wonderful Maria Vazquez and Flamenco Denver take over Skylite for an evening of Music, Dance and Food that all say "Spain". We know..........winter....snow...ice ....cold.......snow....more snow....shoveling snow in the cold.....freezing while shoveling snow in the cold......and....to top it all off, no Skyliters in January. This means the Skyliters return to their rightful place to dispel the gloom with loud guitars and stuff that makes noises like drums and saxophones (whatever they are) . We throw the people shouting into microphones in for nothing. In fact.....it's all free....that's just how we roll. Come, enjoy.....show winter what you're made of..... Starting up around 7:30pm.

On Saturday January 17, EL JAVI makes his return to our stage. At 7:00 pm he begins his first set and takes us to another world of Spanish Flamenco combined with LA fusion grooves. Watch him and his incredibly talented percussionist deconstruct Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" and then reassemble it to be stronger than it was before! I know it seems as if we're trying to have every act that can possibly keep reminding us that it IS warm somewhere...this is purely accidental but we'll take it anyway...$10.00 @ the door...all ages welcome!
Maria Vazquez brings the magic of Flamenco back to us on Saturday, January 24th. Drinks and Tapas will be available for a full night of Spanish infused entertainment. Performance begins at 7:30 , $15.00 at the door...all ages welcome!

The Gallery: Through January we host one of the premier exhibitions on Santa Fe. Three fantastic artists: I'm going to let Rik describe the show since he is the organizer of the event.... Juli
Morsella, Lori Hellstrom & Rik Sargent
Juli Morsella and Lori Hellstrom have travelled the world absorbing the colors, rituals, textures and mythology of the global community.
Juli Morsella’s wood stained stories are a reflection of her love for the Pacific cultures. The people and social norms of this world are her artistic language.
Lori Hellstrom’s photography lets us see abstractly into the windows and doorways of Venice. The streets and people of Italy are one of several European and world cultures that inspire her vision.
Rik Sargent is a local bronze sculptor who has studied painting for the last year or so…. and is happy to be showing them with these very cool women.

December Events

Okay boys and girls....this December 5 is First Friday at Skylite. Serenading you all evening will be the dulcet and melliflous tones of the Skyliters band. We will be crunching on the rootsy and tasty nuggets of Olde English invasion stuff right up to the creamy center of today. Oh yeah... we're forcing Sam DiSiato to crank it up with us. Once again...it might get loud.

Friday, December 12, 2014 finds a great trio of singer/songwriters on our stage...each of whom could headline. First up at 8pm is Matt Nasi and his Acoustic Trio Band. At 9pm, Joshua Abeyta takes the mic and the closer is Jason McIntyre of "Jmac and Junior" fame at 10pm. Jason is on tour out here from his stomping grounds of Pennsylvania. Great music ALL NIGHT. There is a cover of $5-$10, depending on your ability to show your appreciation. All the door goes to the musicians. ALL AGES WELCOME. http://jmacandjunior.com http://mattnasiband.com

To close out the year that marks the 50th Anniversary of BEATLEMANIA...Skylite puts on it's own musical tribute and celebration just before we close up shop for the holidays. On Friday December 19th, ALL the musicians that make Skylite work (and great) will be performing their takes on their favorite fab-four songs. Many singers...many musicians....many songs...many memories. There will also be karaoke and sing-a-longs with YOUR favorites, just in case you have any energy left between sets. Of course, our full bar will be offering libations and food will be on hand by the ever delectable NOVA catering on a buy as you munch basis. Fifty years ago there was massive cultural shift in this country when, for the first time in their lives all of early teen age male America went to the only full length mirror in the house, strapped on their broomstick-come-Rickenbacker, gazed at their astonishing and suddenly-sexy-selves and wondered..".what do girls want?" As luck would have it, there was an instant and gratifying answer from the now-magic mirror: "you, (your name here)."
You're welcome, female world sharers.....$5.00 at the door, all ages welcome!

Saturday, December 20 is "Carnaval de Inverno"=Brazilian Winter Carnaval night at Skylite. If just reading that didn't do something to your pulse....well, let's just say it's time to take advantage of your Obamacare subsidy and get some sort of medical check-up. Or musical check-up....something. We host a fundraiser for our 910 Arts neighbor, Canto Do Galo Capoeira &Samba Colorado. There will be performance by Canto Do Galo Capoeira, Samba Colorado, and Eleni Nayiri. DJ Bigga does the DJ-thang. Skylite was recently chosen to host the Award Ceremonies for the Gateway Awards, honoring achievements in the Santa Fe Revitalization Program. The house band for Skylite Station, The Skyliters, holds forth with musical blasts from the past and present....from across the pond and our own backyard. Noises commence at 7pm. Oh, yeah...this is a free event and...oh, yeah....it just might possibly get loud....l

On the Stage in September
And then there were two.....this First Friday, September 5, 2014, join the Skyliters, the house band of Skylite Station for their final performance with the great Sam DiSiato on lead vocals and frighteningly competent percussion. We are losing Sam to the benighted suburbs of Phoenix Arizona.....this is a sad time. The Skyliters will, however, soldier on with a new line-up that will shake the foundations of the civilized world (or at least rattle the teeth of our neighbors at 910 Arts). We have put in a request to the NSA to keep tabs on Sam so that we can be notified when he strays into our territory and we can force him to sit in with us. If he doesn't, well, we might just have to release certain photographs we are on possession of..... Just sayin....
